James Heal win a Queen's Award

21 April 2012

James Heal are proud to announce that we have won the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade – the second in the company’s long history.

James Heal design, develop and manufacture testing instruments and test materials for fabric and garment manufacturers and independent test houses - all under one roof and entirely in the UK. In order to win this award James Heal had to demonstrate substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success over the last three years as well as showing commitment to being a socially responsible business.

The announcement of this award comes at a time when we are celebrating our 140th year in business, - no mean feat in the current economic climate - and at a time when the British textile manufacturing industry is struggling to survive. Managing Director David Repper recognises that the company's success was a team effort:

"We are honoured and delighted to have won the highly prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

It is a fitting reward for the enterprise, diligence and dedication of more than 100 skilled and talented people who work for James Heal.

Coinciding with the 140th year since our foundation, the Award demonstrates and confirms our pedigree and current standing on the international stage.

I would like to thank each of our employees, agents, distributors, suppliers and associates for their hard work and support, without which we could not have succeeded."

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are made annually by HM The Queen and recognise and celebrate business success, which is made even more special as this year the UK is celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Awarded only to businesses that can demonstrate the highest levels of excellence, it is a great achievement for us, to have won the award - not only once but for a second time. We last won the award in 1995, which was then named The Queen's Award for Export Achievement, and feel that this honour is an outstanding recognition of our commitment to the British manufacturing industry.

Our focus at James Heal is on producing high quality precision instruments and test materials, which allow retailers to feel confident in the quality of the garments which they buy. We shall continue to innovate, rather than imitate, using our in-house state-of-the-art product design and manufacturing facilities to developextraordinary testing solutions.

We provide equipment to textile and garment manufacturers worldwide, many of whom supply well-known retailers renowned for high quality standards including Next, BHS, Marks & Spencer, Victoria's Secret, Louis Vuitton, and almost all of the world's car manufacturers.

We are delighted to have won the Queen's Award for Enterprise and look forward to many more years of success as a British engineering company.
