Domestic washing: Testing colour fastness and measuring fibre fragmentation

In a domestic wash cycle, our garments and home textiles fragment fibers and often lose and transfer colour, but why is it important to measure and assess this?

Fibre fragmentation and poor colour fastness in our daily domestic wash give us several opportunities for improved garment/ product care. These include the longevity of our garments and home textiles, which from a commercial perspective could affect consumer buying decisions, but most of all the biggest concern is adverse effects on the environment.

Using our washing tester GyroWash, we will follow a colour fastness to washing test including the end assessment as well as measuring for fiber fragmentation from the wastewater.
